First Aid Training @ RHKA

RHKA will be hosting our club’s own First Aid Training for all instructors, students and families who want to get certified and learn some new skills. This course will be held at RHKA on June 13 & 14, 2015 and is put on by St. John’s Ambulance. You will be Nationally Certified in Standard First Aid with CPR-C-AED and the cost is $160/person.

Standard First Aid with CPR-C and AED
This 2-day course suited for the general public and workplace and meets first aid requirements for Canada Labour Code Standard First Aid, and Licenced Child and Adult Care Facilities.  This course is suited for police, first responders, lifeguards, ski patrollers, caring citizens and families with children.  This course may be offered in combination with Marine Basic First Aid.

Course contents include:

  • roles and responsibilities
  • management of an unresponsive casualty
  • adult, child and infant resuscitation including 1 rescuer CPR with automated external defibrillation (AED), and first aid for choking)
  • 2 rescuer adult CPR
  • medical conditions
  • management of a responsive casualty with head/spinal injuries
  • chest Injuries
  • multiple casualty management
  • poisoning
  • severe bleeding
  • secondary survey
  • wound care
  • burns and WHMIS
  • eye injuries
  • bone and joint injuries
  • heat and cold injuries
  • rescue carries
  • emergency childbirth
  • poisoning
  • dental emergencies
  • written examination
Upon successful completion of all components participants will receive a national certificate valid for 3 years.
